Hello Dear Healer’s Way Readers!
My name is Dawn DelVecchio and I’m delighted and honored to introduce myself to you.
I feel great appreciation for this opportunity to share with all of you my knowledge of energetic, emotional and physical healing gained over the course of almost 40 years. I’m really looking forward to this dialog, and to introducing you to some of the leaders and teachers on the cutting-edge of energy healing!
I’m also looking very forward to hearing from all of you. I want to know what’s important to you when it comes to energy healing. What do you want to learn more about? Which systems will enrich your life? What do you want for your own health, healing and wholeness – and that of your family? Tell me now or tell me later – leave your comments with questions, concerns or requests any time they arise. This blog is for you to find the healing answers you seek.
So let’s begin! I’ve written this first post to share with you some of my background – the forces that shaped me and how healing has been an integral part of the fabric of my life . . .
Childhood Questions
For as long as I can remember, I was fascinated by anything that had to do with miracles, magic and healing. Even as a very young child, it seemed to me that there had to be more going on than what I could perceive with my five physical senses.
By the time I was 10 I was asking a lot of questions. I wanted to know why love alone couldn’t heal sick people and why only a few people, a long time ago, could cure with ‘laying on of hands’. I wanted to know why medicines tasted like poison, and why some people were healthy while others were terribly sick.
Bless my parents for their patience, because many of my questions went way beyond the scope of their concerns. As a child of the 60’s, my first years were formed by the nightly news body counts from some far away land called Vietnam. This was deeply disturbing. How could there be so much suffering? Surely this was just a random thing that would end soon. But it just went on and on in a blur of blood, camouflage and terrified people. One night I asked, “Daddy, isn’t there a time without war?” I don’t remember his answer, but I do remember it didn’t clear up my distress one bit.
In grade school I would check out library books on things like psychic surgery or telekinesis. I knew about the lives of Uri Geller, Edgar Cayce and Nostradamus before I could get my head around fractions or finished Little House on the Prairie.
Pregnancy, Parenthood and Family
Fast forward to 1984 – the year I gave birth to my child. I had turned away from my search for healing truth when I hit adolescence, focusing instead on the usual suspects of boys, beauty and a social life. But I hadn’t strayed that far, and found myself in Santa Cruz, California – a groovy, alternative town if ever there was one. Young, pregnant and impressionable, I took to heart the advice I received from several young moms who had birthed their children at home.
During my pregnancy, I moved back home, determined to have my baby naturally - barring any emergencies, of course. The midwives were hesitant to accept an 18 year old as a client - until our first meeting. I had read Ina May Gaskin’s tome, Spiritual Midwifery along with a host of other books on natural childbirth, so I came armed with a list of 18 questions. The questions included a veritable grilling on their experience and background, inquires about their emergency procedures, and even a question about how they saw their role in the delivery processes. It was those questions, Ann and Deva later told me, that convinced them to take on their youngest client ever.
Healing took a different turn for me here. Instead of poring over books on psychic phenomenon or saintly miracles, I delved into nutrition, herbal medicinals and homeopathic care. After a robust pregnancy, I delivered Zac, a beautiful baby boy. I was a young, single mother with very little clue about what direction to steer my life. But as I looked at that precious child in my arms, I knew this: for as long as he was in my charge, I was going to do everything in my power to find the most natural and gentle solutions for his well-being.
The Healer’s Way

That beautiful infant is a man now, but from that day to this, my passion for natural healing has continued. Crystal and color healing, chakra balancing, Reiki, Matrix Energetics, aura cleanses and profound Shamanic journeys have all touched and balanced my life. Herbalism, Ayurveda, reflexology and massage are tools I’ve used to care for myself and my family, and processes like dream interpretation, EFT, Unication, astral projection, and archetypal studies have shown me who I am.
From the energetic to the physical and psychotherapeutic, all of these systems have played a key role in my well-being and my understanding of the foundational connection between the human spirit, mind and body.
The Healer’s Way, then, is my way of giving back. It is my deep desire to “pass forward” the gift of my experience, for I have been given so very much by so very many teachers and healers. I’ll be introducing you to healers, teachers and systems who have touched lives for the better. While we’ll focus mostly on energy healing, I’ll cover physical and emotional healing topics too, because all three play a part in nurturing our wholeness.
Your Turn!
Okay, that’s me in a nutshell – now it’s your turn! I want to know something about your healing journey – what’s been of value to you and what you want to know more about?
For starters, I’d love to know these two things:
- Your most powerful healing experience (either as a healer or as someone being healed)
- The three energy systems you most want to learn more about.
Send me your comments and let me know. I so look forward to meeting each of you and sharing this healing journey!
With whole hearted appreciation,
Dawn
